To counter problems of malnutrition, the SME has developed a variety of pre-packaged fortified foods and fortified supplements. Products range from traditional snack foods such as trail-mix and cereal to a variety of nutritional snacks specifically designed for pregnant women, diabetics, the elderly, and those suffering from diseases.
Currently, most packaged food and nutrition aid is imported from overseas to serve the large local demand from international NGO contracts and a growing number of local supermarkets. In addition, the SME foresees future expansion through sales to international conglomerates for retail under their private labels, choosing to purchase product from the SME due to its lower cost than goods produced elsewhere in the world.
The SME achieves competitive advantage through utilization of locally produced low-cost agriculture, highly automated processing machinery, and low cost of labor. The SME seeks $400,000 to expand production capacity and product lines.
