Rwanda - Forestry - Sustainable Bamboo
The SME will establish a plant propagation nursery, tissue culture lab, and plantation to grow (primarily) bamboo seedlings for commercial use. Currently 80% of seedlings used in Rwanda are imported, and often of poor quality. The SME seeks investment to utilize Rwanda’s fertile soil and high demand to create a profitable business, increase supply of seedlings, create jobs, raise per capita income, increase food production, and educate and train local farmers on modern agricultural techniques.

All are related to the production of silk and fibers for use as anti-malarial bednets and temporary housing tents, for which there is significant unmet demand in Rwanda and East Africa.
