Rwanda - Forestry - Sustainable Bamboo
The SME will establish a plant propagation nursery, tissue culture lab, and plantation to grow (primarily) bamboo seedlings for commercial use. Currently 80% of seedlings used in Rwanda are imported, and often of poor quality. The SME seeks investment to utilize Rwanda’s fertile soil and high demand to create a profitable business, increase supply of seedlings, create jobs, raise per capita income, increase food production, and educate and train local farmers on modern agricultural techniques.
Uganda - Agriculture - Chicken Hatchery
The SME seeks investment to increase its production of chicken feed and other products. The business has achieved high turnover of its chicken feed. However, due to the variability of maize prices management seeks capital investment in order to purchase maize in bulk. This will position the business to increase its maize supply when prices are low and allow the business to meet increasing demand from farmers.
